The WWE Royal Rumble 2017 pay-per-view is closing in on Sunday, January 29.
With Chris Jericho confined inside a shark cage, Kevin Owens will once again defend his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, this time in a No Disqualification match.
One year prior, at Royal Rumble 2016, the circumstances were a bit different. Orton then hit an RKO on Reigns and eliminated him, winning the Royal Rumble for the second time in his career after 2009.
If three matches, including a match for the Raw Tag Team Championship, on the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show doesn't intrigue you, how does Shawn Michaels appearing on the show sound?
WWE reportedly has altered its plans for many WrestleMania 33 matches, meaning that Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg is no longer the lock it once seemed to be.
Of course, a Royal Rumble PPV would not be complete without a Rumble match, where 30 men (and women) will compete for a chance to headline WrestleMania.
In 2017, this won't be happening with the victor of the Royal Rumble match receiving a World title opportunity for either the WWE or Universal Championship.
The 2015 Royal Rumble victor exchanged a few blows with Undertaker, before eliminating him, much to the disbelief of the spectators. However, at No. 30, Triple H would return after being away for six weeks. The World title had only been on the line once before when it was vacated before the 1992 Royal Rumble. A main event spot isn't guaranteed either. But WrestleMania often revolves around WWE's biggest names, and Undertaker certainly fits that bill.
