The event will also be taking place in the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York, York and will be the promotion's debut in New York. On Monday, Coker announced Bellator 180 will feature a grudge match between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva.
This is Bellator's first show at the Garden since MMA became legal in New York State last spring.
"We always said that when we come to NY, we'll bring the biggest and the best fight card we've ever had in the history of this company", Coker told the AP. Bellator is owned by media conglomerate Viacom, and airs regularly on Spike TV. That card was headlined by a scrap between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal. The promotion will hold a press conference at MSG on March 28 with the main and co-main event fighters. Wanderlei's countryman Vitor Belfort stepped in to replace him, but Sonnen subsequently failed a pair of drug tests and was removed from the card entirely. The fight was first supposed to happen in the UFC three years ago following Sonnen and Silva coaching The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil opposite each other, which showcased their bitter rivalry.
Sonnen (29-15-1) ended his retirement with a loss in January to Tito Ortiz. Prior to that, he had not fought since November 2013 and still has not won since August 2013, having gone 1-4 in his last five fights.
Bader (22-5), made his UFC debut in 2008 and never fell too far from the 205-pound title picture over the next eight years. Bader, 33, who formally announced his signing with Bellator during an appearance on the MMA Hour, later posted a video on his Twitter account. A fighter with 21 or more UFC fights makes $20,000 from the Reebok deal per bout.
