Ichiro Homers In Final At Bat of Mariners, Marlins Series

Felix Hernandez attempts to follow up his best outing of the season with another victory when the Seattle Mariners host the Miami Marlins for the finale of their three-game series on Wednesday afternoon.

Seattle Mariners' Mitch Haniger singles in a pair of runs against the Miami Marlins in the second inning of a baseball game, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in Seattle.

Martin Perez (1-2) gave up four runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

In the ninth inning, Barraclough struck out pinch-hitter Mike Freeman to start the inning, but he couldn't get past Haniger, who laced the double into the gap.

Wei-Yin Chen and Brad Ziegler combined on eight hitless innings Tuesday night. Koehler surrendered five runs in four innings of work until Jose Urena stepped in and took on the clean-up role, finishing the game while only giving up one run. Miami Marlins' Ichiro Suzuki, left, greets Seattle Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, right, as Mariners translator Antony Suzuki, center, looks on, before batting practice prior to a baseball game against Ichiro's former team, .

For the second time in three days, the Miami Marlins' bullpen let a no-hitter fall a few outs short of completion. The Taiwanese left-hander has two strikeouts. The Marlins are 4-2 in the last 6 meetings and the under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.

The Mariners manage no near-misses before Haniger's double. Paxton has not allowed an earned run in his first 21 innings. Haniger then extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a two-run single to right. For those counting at home, that's 12 consecutive plate appearances reaching base safely ending in five walks (one intentional), two singles, two doubles, and three home runs.

The win was Seattle's fifth in the last six games, as the Mariners try to recover from a 2-8 start.

Next came a four-pitch walk to Stanton, who had hit a moonshot homer in his previous at-bat.

Atlanta scored a run against closer Blake Treinen and had the bases loaded with one out.

Darvish (1-2) faced the minimum through five, but came apart in the sixth. The Mariners travel to Oakland for a four-game series against the Athletics beginning Thursday night. The last time out, he failed to protect a 5-0 lead, although he did not get the loss.
