Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson get dramatic in The Glass Castle trailer

Based on one of the longest-running New York Times best-sellers, The Glass Castle tells the story of Jeannette Walls' unconventional upbringing at the hands of her deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant parents, and her journey towards acceptance and fulfillment.

Oscar® victor Brie Larson brings Jeannette Walls's best-selling memoir to life as a young woman who, influenced by the joyfully wild nature of her deeply dysfunctional father (Woody Harrelson), found the fiery determination to carve out a successful life on her own terms.

The trailer sees Jeannette's (Larson) past and present, offering a look at her poverty when she was a child and her wealthy life when she is adult.

"This is as real as it gets kids, you learn from living!".

'Why do you think all of us ran away from you? "We just need ideal location and we can get to work on our castle".

Her book tells the fascinating story of her unconventional childhood, in which she and her siblings led an impoverished and itinerant life under the guidance of their free-spirited parents, before moving to NY and creating a new life for herself.

Cretton put Larson on the map with his 2013 film in which she played a supervisor at a group home for teenagers. Woody Harrelson-in full Woody Harrelson mode-is playing Walls' alcoholic father, a man who constantly moves the family around due to his inability to hold a job, and Naomi Watts is playing her mother. "She understands how to be strong and vulnerable at the same time, how you can fight and be scared at the same time". "But the degree to which he captured my father was breathtaking".

"They did a spectacular job bringing to life a complicated story, there's so many nuances". It'll be in theaters on August 11.
