China missile launch was DIRECT WAR THREAT to U.S. and Carl Vinson

The strategic missile forces of China's People's Liberation Army has conducted a new-type missile test in the waters of the Bohai Sea, the Ministry of National Defence (MOD) confirmed on Tuesday.

Taiwan's Central News Agency reported Wednesday Beijing's defense ministry had announced the test of a newly developed rocket in the Bohai Sea, the interior gulf of the Yellow Sea, on the coast of northeastern China. The operations were created to raise operational capability "to effectively deal with national security threats", the statement added.

However, the statement did not specify when the missile was tested.

The statement did not say when the launch took place, only that it happened "recently".

Last week, US Forces Korea said THAAD was now operational, with the ability to intercept North Korean missiles, prompting Beijing to demand the immediate suspension of the system's deployment.

During the presidential election campaign, the planned installation of the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defence (Thaad) system - an anti-ballistic missile system - on a golf course in Seongju, 300km southeast of Seoul, became a factor because the eventual victor, Moon Jae-in, said the decision was taken too hastily.

The former South Korean administration and the United States agreed on the THAAD installation previous year.

Through a spokesman in April, newly-elected South Korean president Moon Jae-in called the arrival of the missile system in South Korea "very inappropriate", according to Reuters.

There is a strict Chinese boycott of South Korea that has been in effect since the THAAD defenses were installed.

The statement would not elaborate on what those threats could be but China has become increasingly sensitive to the United States deployment of the missile system, known as THAAD, in eastern South Korea, which came last month.

Although the missile test may have been scheduled in advance, some experts suspect that the test, of what is believed to be a DF-26 intermediate-range ballistic missile, was intended as a warning.
