Comey Less Popular Than Trump in New Poll

Numerous speeches and signs at the Women's March bashed President Donald Trump.

The poll also found that Democrats believe President Trump thinks any story that casts him in a negative light is fake news, while more conservative voters believe that the media have used one standard to report about Democrats and another for Republicans.

More than half of the public, 55 percent, said they believe Mr. Trump fired James Comey as FBI director to disrupt the federal investigation into possible collusion between Russian officials and Trump associates to interfere in the 2016 us election.

Only 27 percent of New Yorkers gave Trump a positive job performance rating, while 71 percent rated his performance negatively.

Separately, Trump's job approval rating touched a new low in the poll, the Hill reported.

"If draining the swamp is a measurable campaign promise, it doesn't look like President Trump has been able to keep it", Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, said in a statement. "He is holding on to 90 percent of his voters and his ratings are still above approval ratings for both the Democratic and Republican parties", Penn said.

And 55% say they believe Comey when he claims that Trump asked him to drop the investigation of his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, which Comey said in memos happened during private conversations with the President.

However, despite voters' opinions about the fairness of the press, 60 percent of all respondents, according to the Harvard-Harris Poll, believe Trump is treating the media unfairly.

On May 17, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI director Robert Mueller as a special prosecutor to head the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into Russia's attempts to subvert the 2016 presidential race.

The president and House Republican leaders celebrated in the White House Rose Garden after voting to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act with legislation that the Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday would cover 23 million fewer Americans. The Monmouth poll of 1,002 US adults was conducted May 13-17 and had a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

In the Monmouth poll, twice as many Americans, 46 percent, said Republicans passed the bill so they could get a political win, as compared with 21 percent said it was a real effort to fix the health insurance system.
