GOP health plan really about taxes

That's an average monthly credit of about $190 per individual, the group said. "But it all comes down to budgetary concerns and how it's going to be written".

The AHCA, which narrowly passed the House, is now in the Senate, where it faces a more uphill battle. In fact, some members who voted in favor admitted to not reading the whole bill before they cast their vote.

Medicaid spending caps as proposed under the AHCA would eliminate open-ended federal funding, which now guarantees payment of 61 percent of Florida's program costs.

Some Senators are talking about maintaining the ACA's Medicaid expansion program, but subjecting it to spending limits, according to The New York Times.

Medicaid is central to the congressional discussion about Obamacare and the federal-state financial relationship.

Who are these House Republicans really representing in Congress?

More than 6 million Americans have pre-existing health conditions and patchy health insurance coverage that would leave them vulnerable to stiff premium hikes under the new Republican health plan, according to a new analysis published Wednesday.

The bill's sponsor, Manhattan Democrat Richard Gottfried, said House Republicans' passage of the American Health Care Act makes it more important that the state Legislature act to preserve affordable health care.

The Republican replacement plan would enable the Republican-controlled Virginia state legislature to pass legislation creating a high-risk health insurance pool of folks who have pre-existing health problems and who are unable to obtain health insurance from insurance companies. The creeps will allow insurers to go back to the days of discriminating against patients with pre-existing conditions. Under this new plan, states can get a waiver that would allow insurers to set prices based on how healthy a person is.

The bill does require states to provide a way for people with pre-existing conditions to obtain coverage, and it allocates up to $138 billion over 10 years to fund such programs.

But it's not enough, said two healthcare experts.

"Using the most recent National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), we estimate that 27.4 million non-elderly adults nationally had a gap in coverage of at least several months in 2015", the Kaiser team wrote.

She wrote that insurance is a free-market business where you can select a policy that covers only your needs, not everyone else's needs.
