Has Wenger 'lost it'? Former Arsenal star claims he has…

The last time Arsenal finished a league campaign without the lure of Champions League football was 20 years ago and finishing fifth - their worst position since 1996 - means they will take part in the Europa League instead next season.

Liverpool have qualified for the Champions League only twice in eight seasons and their manager said the club's status demands that it becomes a regular occurrence.

Nobody can argue the success Wenger has had at Arsenal.

"Last year we were more Jekyll and Hyde - we could be brilliant one week and bad the next".

"I respect Arsene Wenger like everyone who reflects on the whole span of his career, but it doesn't look like the club is going in the right direction", he told 2FM's Game On.

Much more is expected this time round and, before flying to Australia, Klopp outlined his transfer strategy for the summer, which will be key to improving their Champions League record of just three wins in 14 games since the 2008-09 quarter-finals.

Jurgen Klopp's team faces the prospect of progressing through qualifying to reach the group stage of the tournament, where they would join Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

As you can see from the table below the club have improved in every area of their league play.

"For a few weeks we knew that's the maximum we can achieve and we did it".

"I think the club has a strong foundation, a strong organisation and everything to be one year out and come straight back in, like Chelsea did last season". It's a young squad and the average age is the second-youngest in the Premier League, which is another positive - although maybe not for me because it makes me feel a lot older. "More than ever we had to stick together and be strong because it's been very hard for us".

"We have previously announced that there will be no increase to GA pricing for Premier League, Emirates FA Cup and League Cup games in Season 2017/18", they revealed in a season ticket renewal email on Monday.

He said: "It is not that I will sit together with Michael Edwards (Liverpool's sporting director) tomorrow and think about what we need".
