More hints that Sean Spicer could be the next to go

Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been front and center dealing with the backlash after James Comey was abruptly booted as Federal Bureau of Investigation director Tuesday. "After watching Director Comey s testimony last Wednesday (at Capitol Hill), the President was strongly inclined to remove him".

Earlier Friday, Trump reiterated his view that reports about collusion with the Russian government by members of his 2016 campaign are "fabricated". Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House deputy press secretary, filled in for Spicer on Wednesday and Thursday.

When Sanders addressed reporters later in the day, Fox News's John Roberts posed this question: "What led you and the White House to believe that he had lost the confidence of the rank and file of the Federal Bureau of Investigation when the acting director says it's exactly the opposite?"

Trump said in April he wouldn't fire Spicer because "that guy gets great ratings".

- During one of the most volatile cycles of the Trump administration, Press Secretary Sean Spicer has been out of the picture. The next day, Ms Sanders said the president asked Mr Rosenstein to put his concerns in writing. "The chance of "countless" agents calling the White House to complain about their director - and being routed to the deputy White House press secretary - is precisely 0 percent".

"If Hillary Clinton had won the election - which, thank God, she didn't - but if she had, and she had been in the same position, she would have fired Comey immediately, and the very Democrats that are criticising the president today would be dancing in the streets celebrating". The official requested anonymity to discuss internal White House planning. He later told NBC in an interview that the decision was his alone.

Spicer said, "I've talked to the president, and he doesn't have anything to add to that". "And we think that we've actually, by removing Director Comey, taken steps to make that happen".
