Not many teams better than Spurs, says Kane

THERE was no time wasting at White Hart Lane yesterday as demolition crews set to work less than 24 hours after Tottenham played their last game there.

Jansson was an unused substitute as Tottenham secured the win that guarantees them second in this season's league behind newly-crowned champions Chelsea.

"Before moving, there's a season to manage at Wembley, which won't be straightforward, but Wembley is an important place in English football, and we'll do our best to get our bearings to continue this invincibility at home".

After 118 years, Spurs will leave the old ground for a brand new stadium in the same location, after a year of playing their home games at Wembley.

Perhaps more significantly, White Hart Lane's pristine playing surface has now been completely ripped up after Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane earned Spurs a 2-1 win over United - a fitting farewell to a stadium that has seen countless memorable matches down the years.

Notts County could be the first club to play at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur's new 61,000 capacity stadium. Of course there's going to be rumours over the summer, but I'd be very surprised if most of us aren't still here next season.

Spurs are building a new £800m ground next to White Hart Lane, so have to go to the national stadium next season - where they lost two and drew one of their four "home" games in Europe this season.

Fans on the front row will also be only between five and eight metres from the pitch which is unusual for new stadiums - at Manchester City they're 12m away and (again) at the Emirates it's 13m.

"Though today is tinged with sadness, we are all excited about the new stadium and the journey ahead of us", Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said. That's progression from last season and we have to keep it going now.

"We've a very bright future, a great squad and a team that's hungry to win, to learn and to get better".

"We've got to use this as motivation to get there".

"We've just got to next season go out and try and win some trophies, and go into the new season as proper title contenders and players who can win trophies".

"We have a special bond at Tottenham that you don't always get elsewhere".
