President Trump: I Didn't Ask Comey to Drop The Flynn Investigation

President Donald Trump denied pressing former FBI Director James B. Comey to drop a criminal investigation of his first national security adviser, and said his campaign did not collude with Russian Federation.

During a joint press conference with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, a reporter offered Trump "a chance to go on record" about some of this week's bombshell reports on his administration.

Mueller on Wednesday evening was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as special counsel to oversee the Justice Department's investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the US presidential election and related issues.

In a series of tweets earlier Thursday morning, Trump called the appointment of a special counsel 'the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!'

"As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know - there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity".

As Mueller investigates the possible connections between the Trump campaign and Russian involvement in the 2016 election, these rumors will likely continue to swirl.

Reuters reports that after the election, Flynn, who was forced to resign for misleading officials about the nature of his conversations with Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak, was trying to establish a "back channel for communication between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin that could bypass the US national security bureaucracy, which both sides considered hostile to improved relations". He then said "the wall" would help stop the flow of Colombian narcotics into the United States, referring to his promised U.S. -Mexico border barrier. But before the reporter had the chance to finish his question, Trump interrupted him with an assertive "no" and said "next question". "Russian Federation is fine, but whether it's Russian Federation or anybody else, my total priority, believe me, is the United States of America".

"Everybody, even my enemies, have said there is no collusion", he said. However, the House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said that he has full confidence in Trump. On Wednesday, the president reportedly interviewed four candidates for Comey's former position at the White House.

After meeting with his Republican counterpart as well as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House economic adviser Gary Cohn, Wyden said he wasn't reassured.

"No! No!" Trump said tersely. "You can't let them get you down, can't let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams". "We have to get back to running this country really, really well". And I think it's a very, very negative thing.
