Sean Hannity 'kill shot' sooner than later? Advertisers fleeing Fox News

On his show Tuesday, Hannity followed the lead of his network, which removed from its website a story about Rich because it hadn't met its standard of scrutiny.

Minutes after Fox News retracted its inaccurate story peddling a conspiracy theory about the fatal shooting of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, Boyle sprang into Breitbart's Slack channel.

The announcement came after Hannity had already frequently discussed the discredited story on air and initially insisted that he "retracted nothing", even as family members of the murdered chairman begged in a Washington Post op-ed for news outlets to stop publishing the false story speculating on his death.

In a statement, Fox News said Hannity will be back Tuesday.

Rich worked for DNC, and Fox and Hannity have been reporting, without evidence, that an unidentified source at the Federal Bureau of Investigation found that Rich's laptop somehow showed that he'd had contact with Wikileaks and could have been the source of the internal emails Wikileaks ended up publishing. Despite Fox's retraction and the Rich family's pleadings, he hasn't apologize or retracted a single thing he's said about the unfounded conspiracy theory.

Just as news of the advertising changes, Hannity announced he was taking a vacation - the same thing former Fox host Bill O'Reilly said before he was sacked over sexual harassment allegations. Fox News ended its 20-year association with O'Reilly on April 19.

May 23, 2017: The left-wing group MediaMatters continues its war on Hannity by publishing a list of his advertisers and encouraging followers to boycott them.

The network released a short statement on Hannity's vacation.

"We do not advertise on Fox News, Hannity or any political commentary show".

The host is now in the middle of a controversy involving his promotion of a conspiracy theory surrounding the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich.

A version of the Fox News' May 16 online story ran on the Fox local station in Washington, D.C., Fox 5, the night before. The top-ranked cable news host saw 60 advertisers flee when reports said he and the network paid out $13 million in sexual harassment lawsuit settlements to five women. He has continued to tweet about Rich and maintained that he stands by his comments promoting the conspiracy theory.

Last month, Bill O'Reilly was sacked from Fox News after scores of advertisers cut off ties with his show in the wake of a scathing New York Times report that claimed he sexually harassed several women. "Those who suggest otherwise are going to look foolish", a spokesperson said in a statement.
