Senate Intel Committee Wants Comey Memos And Testimony

Green's call comes one day after The New York Times reported that Trump asked then-FBI Director James Comey in February to end the federal investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who was sacked for misrepresenting his conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition period.

"It's a position of conscience for me", Green said.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, a Trump loyalist, demanded that acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe produce within a week all information it has related to the Comey-Trump meeting at the White House.

U.S. President Donald Trump's White House was left reeling Wednesday following the stunning allegation that he sought to derail a criminal investigation into links his former national security adviser had with Russian officials on top of reports that Trump disclosed highly classified intelligence to two Moscow diplomats last week.

Meantime, leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee are asking the FBI to turn over memos prepared by Comey regarding communications he had with the White House or Justice Department about the FBI's Russian Federation investigations, Politico reported.

Serving as an early-warning sign for potential damage to the party is Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), who saw his South Florida congressional district vote for Hillary Clinton by 16 percentage points past year - the most for any GOP lawmaker seeking reelection in 2018. They had previously asked Comey to testify in closed session this week, but he declined.

Fyodor Lukyanov, who chairs the Council for Foreign and Defense Policies, an association of top political and security experts in Russian Federation, said Putin's comments suggest the Kremlin was increasingly losing hope for normalized ties with Washington. There is a broader probe into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, as well as a separate investigation into Mr Flynn.

"I hope you can let this go", the president told Comey, according to Comey's memo of their meeting. Ryan also insisted the Trump controversies were not paralyzing Republican legislative efforts in Congress.

"I don't know if it's an actual fact yet, (the) meeting between Comey and Trump, and what was said and not said, and what did Comey write down on a piece of paper at the time", he said.

The Comey memo caused alarm on Capitol Hill and raised questions about whether Trump attempted to interfere with a federal investigation. "I do think we need independent eyes to figure out what happened".
