Junior throwers Molli Detloff and Katelyn Weber, along with sophomore pole vaulter Kyley Foster, were among those who qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships scheduled for May 25-27 in Austin, Texas.

BU will have 21 entries on the women's side and 13 more on the men's side vying for a chance to get into the top 12 in their respective events and earn a berth to the championship finals site in Eugene, Ore.

BU has four athletes competing in two individual events: Taylor Bennett (100, 200 meters), Cion Hicks (discus, shot put), Kiana Horton (100, 200 meters), Juanita Mainoo (100 meters, 200 meters), and Maxwell Willis (100 meters, 200 meters).

In the pole vault, Applebee will be joined by teammates Mary Carson Pitts and Rebekah Markel, who both took home medals at last weekend's American Athletic Conference Championships.

The three-day West Preliminary will run simultaneously with the East meet in Lexington. At the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, competitors in individual events will be pared from 48 to 24 in the first round and then down to 12 in the second round. The NCAA released the list of qualifying athletes for the combined events, as well as the women's and men's preliminary competition on Thursday.

Tulane will also be represented in the men's competition by Emmanuel Rotich in the 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m as well as Raymond Kibet in the 400m dash. It did not advance him to the outdoor track and field championships, but it does rank him 29 in the nation. With a jump of 4.17m, Pitts enters her third NCAA East Regional at the No. 13 spot in her event, followed by Markel at No. 35 on her mark of 4.04m. She set a stadium record at the University of Houston last weekend with a time of 16:33.94 in the 5000m. Rotich was also a gold-medal finisher in the 3,000m steeplechase at conference.

Parker qualified for the 800 meters following her school-record performance at the Wisconsin Alumni Classic back on May 5.
