"We know there is still one game to go until the end of the season and we want to secure that third positon to qualify (outright) for the Champions League".

West Brom haven't really got much left to play for, but the importance of tonight's game will certainly not be lost on the City players.

Pep Guardiola has suggested the results of his first season as Manchester City manager would have seen him sacked by either Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

"It is time to move on", said Zabaleta, who said he plans to play for two more years before retiring to his wife's home city of Barcelona.

He was right. And when Guardiola arrived in the summer of 2016, the club gave him £170 million (about $219 million) to spend in the transfer window, signing the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan.

He's such a committed player and always gives 100-per-cent to the cause - just look at how many stitches he's had in various wounds over the past nine years. "I would like to say thank you to them for the love and support they have shown me during my nine years at the club".

He's been key to City winning two Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup - but Zabaleta has proven to be so much more than a brilliant footballer. In my situation at a big club, I'm sacked, I'm out, sure, definitely.

"I said to my girlfriend, now my wife, 'Let me go to Manchester".

Meanwhile, Man City and Manchester United will face off in a friendly in Houston, Texas, in July in the first Manchester Derby on foreign soil, the two clubs announced yesterday.

City need a point from their final game at Watford to be certain of Champions League qualification while a victory would see Pep Guardiola's side finish third.

But Guardiola, whose side finish their campaign at Watford on Sunday, said: "I don't understand how the managers speak for the other clubs and the other teams".

"I've been here from day one and I feel very honoured to be honest.

You never realise how tough those moments are when you have to say goodbye to everyone", he added.
