Trump claims unearned exoneration on Russian Federation

Trump fired Comey last week, suggesting his decision was motivated by the FBI's investigation into possible collusion between Russian Federation and his campaign.

"When this all started, the thing we heard from the Hill was 'transformative tax reform, '" said a strategist who consults with major companies focused on tax reform.

Chaffetz, who until now has seemed reluctant to investigate the Trump administration, has already scheduled a hearing for Wednesday, May 24, at 9:30 am - the same day the committee is supposed to receive Comey's memos.

Pressure has built on Trump since he fired FBI chief James Comey last week amid an investigation into Russia's alleged meddling in the United States electoral process.

Mr Comey has not entirely been exonerated - Trump supporters have been quick to question why it took three months for this information to emerge, and have also highlighted his response to the president when, according to his own memo, he appears to concur with Trump that Mr Flynn is a good guy.

"Director Comey was very unpopular with most people", Mr Trump claimed, adding that he thought his firing would be a "bipartisan decision".

President Trump walks toward Marine One while departing the White House Wednesday. The Post, which listened to and verified a recording of the conversation, reports McCarthy made his comments on June 15, 2016, and immediately, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) ended the conversation and told the Republicans present to never reveal what was said.

US media have reported that during his May 10 meeting with Lavrov, Trump disclosed highly classified information received from a USA ally - reportedly Israel - about a planned operation by the extremist group Islamic State.

Still, both leaders were able to get in a few words about the bi-national cooperation to eliminate "drug trafficking networks, illicit financing, coca cultivation and cocaine production, of which there is far too much".

Trump also said he "respects" the decision to appoint a special counsel to investigate the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation, but he didn't distance himself from his earlier description of the situation as "a witch hunt".

A senior administration official said former Democratic vice presidential candidate and Senator Joe Lieberman, one of those interviewed by Trump, was among the leading candidates.

The US President also said there was no collusion between himself and Russian Federation.

Trump also asserted in the joint press conference that Comey's erroneous Senate testimony earlier this month on the probe into Hillary Clinton's email server-which the Federal Bureau of Investigation corrected in a letter just half an hour before Comey was fired-was the reason "why the deputy attorney general went out and wrote his very, very strong letter".

An emailed fundraising appeal by Trump's political organization and the Republican National Committee sent out after reports of the Comey memo said Trump was being victimized by an "unelected bureaucracy".

It was widely reported that Russian Federation was hopeful of a resetting of the relationship between Moscow and Washington following Trump's election victory last November. "And I think it's a very, very negative thing". "I hope you can let this go".
