"I'd throw the Turkish ambassador out", the GOP senator said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe".

McCain said "this kind of thing can not go unresponded to diplomatically".

The executive director of the Armenian National Committee of America, who witnessed Tuesday's bloody attacks against protesters of the regime of visiting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, called the violence the "very type of intolerance that has come to predominate in Turkey - and it has now been exported here".

Newsham did not comment on reports stating that the U.S. Secret Service arrested, then released, members of Erdogan's security detail.

The YPG can be an important instrument in achieving a military victory and, thus, Washington is prepared to take the risk of further damaging USA relations with Turkey. "This isn't Turkey; this isn't a third world country".

The footages recorded in the street on Embassy Row in Washington, D.C., showed members of the Turkish security personnel pushing past U.S. police and assaulting the protesters as Erdogan was due to arrive in the Turkish ambassador's residence.

Local police and lawmakers initially speculated that diplomatic immunity prevented the USA from holding the men.

The office of Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) released a statement Thursday afternoon condemning the violence and used the incident to swipe at Trump: "The unprovoked, vicious attack on peaceful protestors by Turkish security agents was appalling and a graphic reminder of how political dissent in Turkey is routinely crushed with impunity".

But Ankara is now upbeat about the future of relations with Washington under President Donald Trump, with Cavusoglu praising the new administration as "more sincere" after Erdogan's talks with the USA leader this week.

Royce detailed his request for an inquiry in a letter sent Wednesday to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Mr. Erdogan is in Washington on an official state visit.

"These are not just average people at this", McCain said about the bodyguards. A previous video from Voice of America showed police officers struggling to protect protesters and ordering the attackers to stop. Suit-clad men from the pro-Erdogan side of the fracas were recorded kicking protesters in the head and choking others. Another person wrenches a woman's neck and throws her to the ground. Seconds later, a group of men run across the street and start punching and kicking protesters.

Police said two people were arrested. "We call upon the Turkish government to apologize immediately for the involvement of any officials", said the statement. The demonstrators began aggressively provoking Turkish-American citizens who had peacefully assembled to greet the President.

"The Turkish-Americans responded in self-defense and one of them was seriously injured", the Embassy claimed. The problem is that Turkey considers the YPG to be a mortal enemy, allied with the PKK, a Kurdish group that the US and Turkey have named a terrorist organization.

The decision is meant to accelerate the operation to recapture the key Islamic State group stronghold of Raqqa.

The statement added that, "Turkey is a key NATO Ally that faces legitimate domestic security concerns emanating from ISIS, PKK, and other designated terrorist organizations".

The U.S. says there's an ongoing investigation that will allow the U.S.
