Stan Kroenke's company KSE UK has released a statement to stress its shares in Arsenal are not for sale at any price amid reports Alisher Usmanov is still keen to take full control of the club.

The 63-year-old now owns 30 per cent of the club through Red & White Holdings and Press Association Sport understands a formal bid was made for Kroenke's shares but it is believed the American is expected to reject the offer.

Kroenke was singled out for criticism by supporters at Emirates Stadium yesterday as Arsenal beat Everton 3-1 but failed to secure Champions League qualification for the first time in 20 years.

Kroenke Sports and Entertainment added it was "a committed, long-term investor in Arsenal and will remain so".

Arsenal can still salvage something from a disappointing season when they take on Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday in the FA Cup final.

Gunners owner Stan Kroenke was also given a bump by his manager, with Wenger saying: "I think you respect everybody in life".

Fans have become increasingly frustrated with Kroenke's relative lack of spending and commitment to the club, but Wenger came to the defence of the American businessman.

Usmanov - the U.S. sports mogul, who controls a 67 per cent stake - is striking at Kroenke at the point of greatest weakness. The bid was made a month ago in a letter that also included a proposal to work together to secure the future of the club if Kroenke doesn't want to sell.

Wenger accepts doubts surrounding whether or not he would be staying on past the end of his contract have contributed to an "absolutely horrendous" environment at the club.

Wenger's future could have been sorted out last summer when, by all accounts, the club would have been happy to hand him a two-year extension.

Arsenal must be willing to invest greater funds into the playing squad to avoid falling behind their Premier League rivals, says David Seaman. "I don't see what he has to do with that".
