One Person Arrested So Far In Connection To Murder Of Teen Over Seat Sharing Inside Train

They told us that we are "Muslims, anti-nationals, Pakistani, ate beef" and then while hurling abuses at us they pulled my cap and threw it down. Hashim and Shaqir, Junaid's brothers also sustained stab wounds.

Police said investigations were on and they were hopeful of nabbing all the accused after a Muslim youth was stabbed to death by a group of people when an altercation over a train seat turned communal near Ballabhgarh in Haryana, even as the brother of the victim on Sunday narrated the harrowing experience. The father and brothers have been called to the thana several times but till now only one criminal has been arrested.

One among the survivors, Mohsin, said that his cousins tried pulling the emergency chain, but their distress call went in vain as the train did not stop.

Media reports earlier said the murderous attack followed rumours about beef eating by the victims. Cops took the man along with them and boarded a train from Okhla to Ballabgarh to identify some of the daily passengers and reconstruct the events.

Junaid and brothers Shaqir and Hashim had been stabbed on board the train soon after it left Ballabgarh station.

A Government Railway Police official told IANS that Section 298 of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to utterance of words etc. with deliberate intent to injure religious feelings of any person had been added to the case on Saturday.

"There was blood spattered all over the floor and the passengers just moved away as they dragged Junaid on the floor", he said. "The agencies should look into it and see who are behind this", he said. All the initial attackers were carrying big knives. The men were returning from shopping in Tughlakabad for the Eid festival, these reports said. The delegation condoled the death of 15-year-old Junaid and expressed sorrow at the grievous injuries to Shakir and Hashim.

One of the men who were involved in the attack on Junaid Khan, the teenager killed on a train from Delhi to Mathura, admitted that he was egged on by his friends to attack the boy.

A CPI (M) delegation led by Brinda Karat and Mohammad Salim visited them on Saturday evening and said they would seek compensation for Junaid's family as well as free treatment for his brothers.
