Cleveland Cavaliers considering starting Iman Shumpert in Game 3

This has led to speculation that Tyronn Lue may replace him with Iman Shumpert in the starting lineup for Game 3, but Tyronn Lue says that isn't happening.

Back home after being outrun and outgunned by the Warriors, who won Games 1 and 2 at Oracle Arena by a combined 41 points, the Cavs find themselves in the same predicament they were in a year ago. "And we're not going to change just because we're playing Golden State".

With Shumpert's ability to guard both Curry and Durant, and do it well, the Cavs' two best isolation players will have more energy and more of an early offensive impact moving forward. There's no way the Cavs were going to shoot 40 percent over a series. Simply put, some figure the Cavs need to slow this down.

The 2016 Finals seemed to be Irving's breakout party, as his unstoppable play and clutch shooting catapulted him into consideration as a top-10 talent in the National Basketball Association.

I arrived in OH late this morning to cover Games 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals.

Just like a year ago, Smith has had a similar shaky start to the Finals.

The Cavs are playing at a quicker pace than LeBron James has ever played before.

Lue acknowledged one adjustment, saying that starting center Tristan Thompson could continue to play reduced minutes.

The 26-year-old Shumpert averaged 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists over 76 games in 2016, including 31 starts.

"I feel like I can make each and every shot". Though not as explosive of a scorer as Smith, Shumpert is perhaps the Cavaliers' best defender outside of James.

Cleveland has gotten virtually nothing out of anyone, save for James (who's averaging a triple double in the Finals), Kevin Love and Irving. The Cavs had a 33-16 at the end of the first and never looked back. He has nearly twice as many fouls (5) as he does points.

Defensively, the simplicity that exists with Shumpert guarding James' man, Irving and Smith guarding the Warriors' backcourt and giving Draymond Green space to shoot will allow the Cavs to make James a roaming player in the lane that can defend the rim, attack passing lanes and contest what could become open jump shots.

Lue has been dealt a tough hand here, and his best actions haven't resulted in a ton of success for Cleveland, especially in the second halves of Games 1 and 2. But, as mentioned before, James attacked the paint for the first half. I got two really dumb fouls, the one on K.D. on a four-point play, and then I fouled Steph in transition and he go got three shots at the free throw line.
