The refusal of President Donald Trump to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to Article 5 undermines its deterrence value

The refusal of President Donald Trump to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to Article 5 undermines its deterrence value

"We're all trying to get to the right place and be respectful of each other".

Unfortunately for us, the same Donald Trump is back in the White House.

From handshakes to hand swats, here are the top four awkward body language moments from Trump's first trip overseas.

Trump's rally on Saturday was full of his campaign rally theatrics with Marine One taxiing to the terminal as the theme song for "Air Force One" played in the background and the audience of hundreds of service members and their families looked on. Trump hung back, deciding against joining his peers.

After President Trump's sumptuous, warm welcome in Saudi Arabia and Israel, dealing with America's European allies has been a bucket of cold water.

Press access was severely limited on the trip, and he didn't hold a single news conference. "And I think we hit a home run no matter where we are", he said.

In a major speech on his second day in Riyadh to leaders of more than 50 Muslim countries, the President attempted to tone down his rhetoric and took his first major step toward attempting to unite the Muslim world in common cause against terrorism. Russian Federation has spent decades hoping to drive a wedge between Germany and the United States - an alliance that's been a central pillar of global affairs for decades - and it now appears Trump has managed to deliver that result after just four months in office.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who served under President Barack Obama, said he was "very concerned" about the latest reports on Kushner and Russian Federation.

"He said they're very bad on trade but he doesn't have a problem with Germany", Axios reports Cohn told the press pool. They spend domestically on weapons or other defense-related needs.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Trump join dancers with swords at Murabba Palace.

But in Brussels and Sicily, Trump found counterparts who were largely unified against him - and decided not to give them what they wanted, whether it was a public commitment to NATO's mutual defense clause or assent to staying in the Paris climate deal.

Those calls had mixed results.

Europeans listened and pretended to believe them.

Trump's pending review of US climate policies has left environmentalists bracing for the possibility of bland G-7 promises that say little after years of increasingly stronger commitments to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Last week, 22 Republican senators, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., sent a letter to Trump urging him to exit the Paris accord.

He celebrated a multibillion-dollar arms deal with Saudi Arabia that the White House said would produce American jobs. "This trip has also been incredible for me as first lady". On a trip where he spoke far less than he was seen, the President's body language often spoke for him.

Other odd moments from this trip include the "grip and grit your teeth" handshake with new French President Emmanuel Macron, the failed attempts at hand holding with the first lady and video of Trump shoving aside Dusko Markovic, the prime minister of Montenegro, as the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders got ready for their class photo.

Trump was lavishly feted in Israel as well, embraced by a prime minister who despised his predecessor and was eager to flatter the new president. He did well also in Israel, which is a democracy but one whose existential angst is now so severe it has developed the sort of siege mentality which Trump seeks to manufacture, for his own power player purposes, here in America.

Trump discussed trade with the leaders of Italy, Britain, France, Germany, Canada and Japan during the summit, but it was not immediately clear what he meant by the tweet.

While Trump is demanding that the world's wealthiest nations to do more to fight terror, he's also listening to their urgings about the need for the remain in the sweeping Paris climate agreement. He says the final document reflects that other countries respect the US decision to take more time before making a final decision.
