How to watch the 2017 NBA draft

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers finalized their trade that sent the No. 1 overall pick to the 76ers.

The Boston Celtics have officially traded the number one overall pick in the 2017 National Basketball Association draft to the Philadeplhia 76ers. If the more favorable of the Sixers' and Kings' 2019 first-round picks is the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Sixers will instead convey the rights to the less favorable of those two picks.

This is the second straight season the 76ers will have the No. 1 pick. "History suggests that No. 1 has the greatest odds of producing franchise-level talent and we are confident that this year's draft class has that very potential".

"We're going to continue to build with that core and make right decisions that don't jeopardize a nice strategic path towards sustainable success".

Ainge, who said this was the best offer they got for the pick by far, seemed to indicate in his Monday availability that he plans on using the No. 3 overall pick and selecting a player, and stated that it's the player the Celtics were considering at No. 1 anyways.

For now, Boston has seven first-round picks in the next three years. In addition to Fultz and Jackson, UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball, who is expected to be drafted at No. 2 by the Lakers, Duke small forward Jayson Tatum and Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox are considered by many to round out the top prospects. "They're getting the player they want", Ainge said, referring to the 76ers. That pick will either be a 2018 first from the Los Angeles Lakers if it falls between picks two and five or a 2019 first from the Sacramento Kings.

All indications are the 76ers will select Fultz, who grew up in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and played his freshman season at the University of Washington. They're big on defense so I think the tools that I have to be a defensive player I think would help them get out in transition.

UCLA's Lonzo Ball has always been linked to his hometown Los Angeles Lakers.

Adding Hayward could potentially be the start of something special for the Celtics. We had heard a number of versions of the trade over the weekend, but on Monday we learned the official details regarding the protections on the future pick that will go to the Celtics. Fultz would join Jahlil Okafor, Joel Embiid and Simmons. Fultz, 19, averaged 23.2 points (47.6 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from three), 5.9 assists and 5.7 rebounds last season.

Ainge confirmed the Celtics brought in Tatum for a workout Monday, and that the team plans to host Jackson for a workout Tuesday.

Griffin's departure comes on the anniversary of the Cavs' dramatic Game 7 win over Golden State, capping a historic comeback that gave Cleveland its first major professional sports championship since 1964.
