Israel advances plans for 3000 new West Bank homes

Add to that Palestinian incitement against Israel, its funding of families of terrorists, and its refusal to negotiate throughout several US presidential terms, and it should not surprise anyone that a two-state solution, which ADL and a majority of Americans strong support, has yet to materialize.

Israel has allowed plans for over eight thousand new homes in the West Bank, with over a third for immediate construction.

The resolution, adopted previous year, also states that the building of settlements by Israel has "no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under global law".

Israel has so far this year advanced its highest number of settlement projects since 1992, the defense minister said Sunday, despite warnings such plans will further cloud chances of a two-state solution.

Praising Netanyahu's government for its aggressive stance on expanding Jewish settlements in the West Bank, the defence minister said "the numbers for the first half of 2017 are the highest since 1992".

According to the group's research, plans for 7,721 housing units were advanced since the beginning of 2017, almost three times more their number in all 2016.

"We call on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to show good will and undertake honest efforts so that we can together make successful the sincere efforts led by Donald Trump", Abbas told Haaretz's Israel Conference on Peace in a prerecorded video message.

The figures were similar to those published by settler units watchdog Peace Now last week.

Some 600,000 Israeli settlers now live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, alongside around 2.9 million Palestinians. Last week, the premier told settlers he would keep building across the West Bank.

The global community regards all Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories as illegal and a major obstacle to Middle East peace.

Such Israeli construction violates the basic rights of the Palestinian people on their territory, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
