More people than expected show up to see Erendira Wallenda's stunt

After she landed, Wallenda said the stunt "felt awesome".

Trapeze-artist Erendira Wallenda smiles as she and her daredevil husband Nik Wallenda describe Erendira's plans to perform an acrobatic routine while suspended from a helicopter above Niagara Falls, at a news conference Wednesday. Rather than walk the expanse of the iconic falls, she chose to hang from a helicopter by her feet and also by her teeth.

The 36-year-old successfully pulled off the stunt on Thursday - five years to the day that her daredevil husband Nik Wallenda walked a tight rope over the falls.

More than a thousand people came to watch Wallenda dangled by her teeth under a helicopter more than 300ft above Niagara Falls.

Wallenda had stood by a hoop hanging from a helicopter during a pre-NASCAR auto show.

"I sort of get lost in that moment".

The Niagara County Legislature last month approved spending $35,000 for the act.

Nik told reporters that he's looking to build a permanent attraction in Niagara Falls that would showcase his family business.

"It's comforting to look up and see my husband", she said.

Big ideas for Niagara Falls are as common as water falling over them, and many concepts over the years have evaporated like the mist above the Falls. "It was a lot more windy than I expected it to be". She set a world record in 2016 by completing 40 revolutions in her hoop in 50 seconds beneath a helicopter above the Atlantic City shore.

Today, Erendira chose to go 300 feet above Niagara Falls. "That's fantastic. That's awesome".

"As an artist and a daredevil I guess, there is something abut it, something nearly magical that draws you to it", she said.

WBFO's Michael Mroziak interviews Erendira and Nik Wallenda following Mrs. Wallenda's successful aerial stunt over Niagara Falls Thursday morning.
