Nintendo's SNES Classic won't be immediately sold out like NES Classic

Nintendo has announced that the Super Nintendo Entertainment System is coming back to stores in the form of the Super NES Classic Edition.

Nintendo will release the Japanese Super Nintendo Classic later than in U.S. and Europe.

Just like the NES previous year, Nintendo has officially announced that the Super Nintendo Entertainment System will be getting a makeover in the form of a miniature replica with HDMI support.

Officially titled the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the miniature 16-bit system will come with 21 pre-installed games in total, including the never-before-released Star Fox 2.

In terms of design, the Super NES Classic Edition features the original look and feel of the '90s home console. The console has of course been updated for modern television sets as it now sports an HDMI port instead of the RCA and coaxial ports found on the original. "With the Super NES Classic Edition, new fans will be introduced to some of the best Nintendo games of all time, while longtime fans can relive some of their favorite retro classics with family and friends".

"We aren't providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition", it claimed. One game that never saw the light of day however, was Star Fox 2, with its release being cancelled despite the title being completed. While Europe and the U.S. get a box that is similar in design of the NES Classic, the Super Famicom Classic comes in a more graphic artistic box. It includes the "Super Mario Kart", "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars", "Super Mario World" and "Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting". The games are all internal, and we hope, like the Classic Edition NES, you can save at any time.
