America valued partner in our flagship programmes says PM Modi

Ivanka Trump, the daughter of and advisor to USA president Donald Trump is all set to visit India this year, when she is expected to lead an United States delegation to the eighth edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), reported The Indian Express.

The two leaders also said in a joint statement that they strongly condemn Pyongyang's continued provocations and pledged to work together to counter the North's weapons programs, including by "holding accountable all parties that support these programs".

The Israeli prime minister will also host a dinner for Modi on July 4, the envoy said.

An article in this newspaper focused on the fact that no questions were taken during the joint press briefing of PM Modi and President Trump in the Rose Garden even though they were leaders of the oldest and largest democracies. "We will destroy radical Islamic terrorism". The gorgeous lady was all smile as she greeted the Prime Minister.

"Today world is inter dependent and inter connected therefore its absolutely natural that in our discussions that we will not only discuss bilateral issue but also worldwide issues of importance.", PM Modi said.

Some of the topics that could headline the agenda are immigration, terrorism and regional security, China and trade and defence, the paper noted. Mr Trump said, the relations between the two countries have never been so stronger and better.

Besides terrorism, trade and economy also featured majorly in the meeting. "It is important that that we reduce our trade deficit with your country", he added. Before their meeting began, he thanked India for ordering military equipment from the US.

Ni Feng, deputy director of the Institute of American Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times on Tuesday that Trump has given a "positive spin" to India-US relationship.

"On his part, Modi displayed pragmatism in the meeting by putting "America first" rather than push for his "Make in India" initiative and did not touch on issues of contention like the climate pact or the H-1B visa issues on which the Trump administration has made its conservative stance clear. You have a big vision for improving infrastructure, and you are fighting government corruption, which is always a grave threat to democracy", he said. The paper referred to both leaders as "political outsiders who champion a muscular, country-first nationalism".
