Rihanna Steals The Show At NBA Finals Opener

For the third year in a row, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers are facing off in the NBA Finals.

That self-appraisal might be a bit harsh, but it's not too far off the mark, because grabbing just four rebounds and failing to score in 22 minutes of Cleveland's 113-91 loss to the Golden State Warriors just isn't good enough.

ABC got its annual shot of sports ratings on Thursday night with its first game of the NBA Finals. Since hitting the postseason, the Warriors have experienced even more success.

It wasn't just Durant who came at the Cavaliers.

"Well, I'm pretty sure that won't happen tomorrow", Durant said with a grin Saturday.

In the two days between games, both teams mulled over the same idea - that they could have played better.

"If he's not making shots, he's still a respected shooter and nobody's going to give him open shots if he starts to miss", Durant said.

The Cavaliers are going to have to hope they can go home and regain some of the magic that helped them win a title last season. We just play physical.

Warriors acting coach Mike Brown expects a better showing Sunday from the Cavaliers.

So while he was tweeting Thursday about Santa Claus and Australian Rules Football, Durant was dunking on the sort of nonexistent defense typically seen at an All-Star Game.

The Cavs simply can't allow the same number of shots at the rim as they did in Game 1 if they want to be competitive in this series.

This year, Iguodala remains the Warriors' best option on James.

Not that they're discussing it. There's going to be talk about legacies and proclamations that this Finals series is over, forgetting, of course, that the same two teams met last season and the Cavaliers overcame a 3-1 deficit and lost Game 1.

Thompson spent the night matched up at various times against LeBron James, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and J.R. Smith and thrived in all of those situations. But if Thompson ends up with a couple of championship rings and teams are banging down the doors to sign him to a max extension, he'll likely think long and hard about leaving Golden State.

Time and again, the Cavs fanned out to the arc and dared the Warriors to drive or pass inside. But Thompson needs to be more forceful to prevent the Warriors from taking him out of the game. "But I understand the road is very challenging, especially when you get to this level. you get to The Finals, you get to the Eastern Conference finals. You just can't forecast that".

The closest team to the Warriors was the Spurs, and they even won six fewer games, finishing off the year with a record of 61-21.

RiRi brushed it off and showed love to King James with a court side bow and dab for the culture. We have to do better....
