Terror gang's rampage in London claims at least 6 lives

London Ambulance Service Assistant Director of Operations Peter Rhodes said: "We took 48 patients to five hospitals across London and treated a number of others at the scene for minor injuries".

Six people have been killed and around 50 injured in a terrorist attack in central London.

In the incident at Borough Market, an area that houses many food stalls and pubs and is popular with tourists, Metropolitan police said armed officers had been sent to the area after reports of stabbings, possibly at a restaurant.

"We are reviewing and planning to strengthen our policing stance across London over the forthcoming days, and there will be additional police and officers deployed across the Capital", Rowley said.

"There was a bike on the floor, I tried to pick up the chair but it was locked to it, to throw it at them, to get them away from her".

Rowley said more than 20 other people were injured and hospitalized, including a police officer who responded to the incident at London Bridge.

The emergency incident comes months after another terror attack in which a man drove an SUV into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge outside Parliament in London.

As they responded to the two incidents, police were then called to a third potential attack - reports of an "incident" in nearby Vauxhall, a residential area, which occurred just before 1 a.m. (8p ET).

Shortly after the acts of violence took place, Metropolitan Police classified them as terror attacks.

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May will hold a meeting of the government's emergency response committee Sunday, according to The Associated Press.

One witness inside the station described the scene to Sky News.

Trump began tweeting about the incidents an hour or so after initial news reports. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull called for "resolute solidarity" with Britain in the face of the "shocking" attacks.

The attack has received widespread condemnation from political leaders, with London mayor Sadiq Khan calling it "deliberate and cowardly".

"There is no justification whatsoever for such barbaric acts", he said. Police then responded to reports of incidents at two more sites. On 22 May, 22 people were killed and 116 injured when the attacker, Salman Abedi, detonated a home-made bomb in the arena's foyer as crowds were leaving a performance by USA singer Ariana Grande late in the evening.
