Trump to visit France on Bastille Day

France's newly-elected member of Parliament Francois de Rugy, center top, delivers a speech after being elected new Speaker of the House and President of the National Assembly during the first session of French National Assembly after the recent presidential and legislative elections, in Paris, Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

French President Emmanuel Macron has invited U.S. President Donald Trump to a Bastille Day celebration next month to celebrate the arrival 100 years ago of the American troops who fought alongside the French during World War I.

Trump will attend the traditional military parade on the Champs-Elysees avenue, where USA soldiers will march alongside French troops to commemorate the centenary of America entering World War I, Macron's office said.

President Donald Trump on June 2 chose to withdraw the US from the Paris climate accord citing that the 2015 agreement was detrimental to the United States economy.

The secretary general of France's main employee union, the CFDT, Laurent Berger, said he's in a "phase of consultation" with the government.

The two men last met in Brussels in May, a session noted by an extended handshake between them. "One must show that you won't make small concessions, even symbolic ones, but also not over-publicize things, either".

President Donald Trump plans to celebrate Bastille Day in France.

A Trump trip to Paris will follow a visit to France by Vladimir Putin in May when Macron hosted the Russian leader at Versailles palace.

Penicaud, a former director of human resources for food-products multinational group Danone, said the reform is "expected by the French, they gave a clear signal of need for change" by electing Macron, a pro-free market centrist.

British opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn has echoed Khan's criticism of the invitation and has also called for the visit to be shelved.
