President Donald Trump made members of his cabinet and his senior staff praise him in front TV cameras during a White House meeting on June 12 (video below).

Vice President Mike Pence spoke first: "This is the greatest privilege of my life is to serve as vice president to a president who's keeping his word to the American people".

Trump then proceeded to blame the Democrats for their resistance in rolling back the Affordable Care Act, which was the signature legislative achievement of President Barack Obama, reports CNN.

"Never has there been a president - with few exceptions, in the case of FDR, he had a major depression to handle - who's passed more legislation, who's done more things than what we've done", the president said. Some Cabinet members gave brief updates on the work of their departments, while others stuck to praise.

The meeting was widely mocked on social media, while Senate Democratic Leader Charles SchumerCharles SchumerSchumer: Conservatives trying to "besmirch the reputation" of Mueller Dem lawmaker mocks Trump Cabinet meeting Senate reaches deal on Russian Federation sanctions MORE (N.Y.) released a parody video where his staff gushed about his hair.

Haberman said she agreed with the characterization of the occasion by some observers as one comparable to "Dear Leader" language.

"There are millions of good jobs that lead to great careers, jobs that do not require a four year degree", he said at the Cabinet meeting. Schumer asks, turning to the next staffer.

"We've been about as active as you can possibly be and at a just about record pace", Mr Trump said. The vice president's introduction began a succession of praise and gratitude for the president, which included comments from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Agriculture secretary Sonny Perdue, noting the comments from other officials who said they had recently been overseas, noted wryly: "While we are bragging about global travel I just got back from MS and they like you there".

Trump gathered the group Monday morning.

"Mr. President, proud to be here, certainly very proud to represent the quarter of a million men and women who serve the country in DHS", John Kelly said, emphasizing the part where he mentions the agency for which he's responsible.
