White House to Comey: Go ahead and testify. We won't stop you

Former FBI Director James Comey has told the Senate intelligence committee he won't be constrained in discussing his conversations with President Donald Trump, Chairman Richard Burr said Monday. Comey is scheduled to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee at an open hearing on Thursday.

"And then, obviously, Thursday, we have former FBI Director Comey".

Comey's testimony is scheduled to begin at 10am eastern time and will be streamed online by PBS NewsHour (you can also watch PBS's stream here, on the player above) and C-SPAN.

Yet, as he prepares to outline his communications with Trump prior to his abrupt firing last month, the potentially explosive implications of his testimony could redefine a legacy in government - beyond the hotly disputed actions he took as a former deputy attorney general and during four years as Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

"The president's power to exert executive privilege is very well established". The president and aides can not be compelled to testify about private conversations, but Comey is appearing before senators voluntarily.

The White House will also be pushing legislation to combat human trafficking, spearheaded by the president's daughter and adviser, Ivanka Trump.

They'll be joined in NY by Face the Nation anchor John Dickerson, chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford, White House correspondent Margaret Brennan, chief congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes, justice and homeland security correspondent Jeff Pegues, and national correspondent Chip Reid.

The main reason that he was "let go" was because he was just about to disclose the truth about Russian Federation and our president.

The meeting with McCabe was not primarily about Comey's testimony, the senators said.

US intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation meddled in the presidential election to hurt the bid of Democrat Hillary Clinton.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House director of legislative affairs acknowledged Monday that the ongoing investigations into possible links between Russian Federation and President Donald Trump's campaign have undoubtedly detracted from the administration's agenda. He later tweeted that Comey better hope there are no "tapes" of their conversations.

But as long as President Donald Trump has a smartphone, no White House strategy is safe.
