Witch Hunt! : Trump tweets he is under FBI investigation

Trump publicly acknowledges Russia probe includes him

Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research released a new poll this week, and it found that approximately 61% of surveyed Americans believe that Trump tried to "obstruct the investigation" into Russia's 2016 election interference.

Rosenstein, 52, has said little publicly, but a cryptic statement he released late Thursday captured some of the strain and frustration he is probably feeling about the numerous unauthorised leaks about the Russian Federation investigation that have angered the president, according to several of his colleagues and friends.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) saw Trump's tweet as evidence that the president would fire the deputy attorney general.

The new allegations against Trump center on his own admission that he fired Comey because of the Russian Federation investigation, and suggestions he asked several top intelligence officials for their help altering the inquiry's direction. The official demanded anonymity because the official was not authorized to be named discussing the deliberations. "Nice", Trump wrote in his first tweet. Though some in the White House have preached caution, fearing a repeat of the firestorm over Comey's firing, many in Trump's orbit - including his son Donald Trump Jr. and adviser Newt Gingrich - have deemed Mueller biased and worthy of dismissal. A source on Trump's legal team claimed the president was referring to a Washington Post story "from the other night" rather than confirming he is being investigated. However, the Justice Department spokesman Ian Prior said Friday Rosenstein sees no reason at this point to recuse himself, however, adding, "As the deputy attorney general has said numerous times, if there comes a point when he needs to recuse, he will".

Under federal rules, Trump can't fire Mueller. But Rosenstein, too, may ultimately have to hand off oversight given his role in Trump's decision to fire Comey. The order also covers separate inquiries into several key Trump associates including former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, campaign adviser Paul Manafort, foreign policy aide Carter Page and outside adviser Roger Stone.

Inside the White House, a sense of foreboding has taken hold on even the most junior staff and up to the Oval Office, as news emerged that Vice President Mike Pence has hired a high-powered outside counsel to represent him.

The memo, from the transition team's general counsel's office, is another indication that Mueller is casting a wide net in his inquiry into possible collusion between Trump's campaign and Moscow. Cohen has received a subpoena from one of the congressional committees looking into the Russian Federation issue.

President Donald Trump confirmed Friday he is under federal investigation and appeared to single out a senior Justice Department official for criticism, underscoring his growing frustration with the persistent focus on Russia's involvement in the 2016 election and possibly his campaign.
