Films - which doesn't have a title at the moment - focuses on Paterno during the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal.

Ganim is the young journalist who first broke the Sandusky story while working as a reporter for a local newspaper in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. (Or at the very least, get people thinking about what Pacino looks like as Paterno with make-up and so forth.) Filming is reportedly taking place through September. He died the following year in 2012. Joe Paterno died in 2012 at age 85 after a battle with lung cancer, just two months after he was sacked from his decades-long coaching job. That may apply to Penn State administrators Tim Curley and Graham Spanier, who were sentenced to prison in connection with the Sandusky scandal, as well.

Now in production, the movie, written by Debora Cahn (Grey's Anatomy, The West Wing) and John C. Richards (Nurse Betty) and David McKenna (American History X, Blow), does not yet have a premiere date. Pacino won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his role as Dr. Jack Kevorkian.

This is also the second time in Pacino's movie career that he will be playing a football coach.

The Harmony Korine-directed and written movie also stars Robert Pattinson, Benicio Del Toro, and rapper Gucci Mane.

The Paterno project is Pacino's fourth HBO project, after "Angels in America" (2003), "You Don't Know Jack" (2010) and "Phil Spector" (2013). At the time, Brian De Palma was supposed to direct the film based on Joe Posananki's book, "Paterno".
