Chelsea in talks with top club to sign Brazilian defender

According to The Mirror, he's started that push with the signing of Danilo, as Chelsea have fended off competition to land the Real Madrid star in a £28m deal.

Los Blancos feel they do not need to sell the player, who plays mainly at right-back.

Despite earning just 41 league appearances over two seasons at Real Madrid, Danilo's spell could be termed as a success with two Champions League titles and a La Liga crown to his name.

Unsurprisingly, Zinedine Zidane and co. are reportedly open to moving Danilo on this summer, with several top clubs having expressed an interest to this point.

Chelsea have emerged as possible rivals to Juventus for Real Madrid right-back Danilo as the Premier League champions continue to seek reinforcements in wide positions.

Conte, however, has had the last laugh over his former side by scuppering their own move for Danilo, and will view the Brazil global as excellent competition in the wing back roles in his preferred 3-4-3 system.

The 25-year-old will strengthen the right side of the Chelsea defence, and particularly with Champions League football also to prepare for this season, it gives the Blues extra options.

Juventus were heavily linked with a move for the former Santos standout earlier this month, with some outlets even going as far as to insist that the Bianconeri had agreed a deal for Dani Alves' potential replacement in Turin.
