Trump critics claim this represents an attempt at collusion by Trump Jr.

Senator Grassley, in a press release outlining his potential questions to former FBI Director James Comey, notes that the FBI planned "to hire former British spy Christopher Steele to investigate Donald Trump during the presidential campaign, even though the FBI was aware that he was being paid by Democrat political operatives to conduct opposition research on Trump".

Sebastian Gorka, a Trump White House aide, told CNN on Tuesday that the DNC was "sending its people to the Ukrainian embassy to coordinate oppo attacks against our candidate".

The Washington Post reported in June that Kushner's finances and business dealings were being examined as part of the probe led by special counsel and former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Robert Mueller into whether the Trump campaign teamed with Russian Federation to help tilt the presidential race in favour of the billionaire tycoon.

Overnight, a U.S. congressman filed an article of impeachment against Donald Trump in a longshot bid to remove the president from office.

The Magnitsky Act reemerged as a front-burner topic this week in connection with the investigations surrounding President Trump's campaign and possible links to Russian meddling in last year's presidential race.

The lobbyist, who denies any current ties to Russian spy agencies, accompanied the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, to the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower attended by Donald Trump Jr.; Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law; and Paul Manafort, former chairman of the Trump campaign.

Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, who has been lobbied by Akhmetshin, told CNN earlier this year that the lobbyist is someone with "an ulterior motive" who is "involved with people who've got an agenda" and has "international connections to different groups in Russian Federation".

Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate intelligence committee, has also said he'd like to hear from Trump Jr. and said the panel has requested documents from him.

"American elections are national elections, they don't have an global aspect, and so a foreign national can't for instance contribute money to a campaign", she said.

"If it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer", Trump Jr. said in one email response.

She was responding Thursday to a claim by Trump that Natalia Veselnitskaya "was here because of Lynch". "Zero happened", Mr Trump insisted. That act was named for Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer who exposed massive tax fraud in Russia at the government level. Mrs. Clinton, after all, claims she reset the relationship with Russian Federation.

"I'm more than happy to be transparent about it, and I'm more than happy to cooperate with everyone", Trump Jr. said in that interview. Veselnitskaya founded a group purporting to seek the removal of Moscow's ban on the adoption of Russian children by United States citizens, which it put in place in retaliation for the Magnitsky Act.

"My motive for bringing him in is because of other involvement with whether or not the Foreign Agents Registration Act has been adequately enforced by this administration and the Obama administration", Grassley said.

Facebook said it has seen no evidence of Russian entities buying ads related to the presidential campaign on its site.

"Nothing happened from the meeting".

President Trump has repeatedly defended his son, calling him "a high quality person" and saying he "applaud (s) his transparency".

Trump Jr. said the meeting "really went nowhere" and that he never told his father about it because there was "nothing to tell".
