Fresh Kid Ice Cause of Death: How Did the 2 Live Crew Rapper Die?

Fellow 2 Live Crew member Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell wrote on Twitter, "My condolence goes out to the family Chris Wong Won Fresh Kid Ice of the 2 Live Crew who just passed away people we lost a legend". According to the group's manager he died at 7:50 AM Thursday in a Miami hospital ... due to a medical condition.

Fresh Kid, whose real name was Chris Wong Won, formed the legendary hip-hop crew 2 Live Crew alongside DJ Mr. Mixx and Amazine Vee in 1984. While hardly groundbreaking musically, the album thrust the group into the center of a whirlwind of controversy over the lyrics to songs like "Me So Horny" and "The F- Shop".

Wong Won was known by his hip-hop alias, "Fresh Kid Ice", with the Miami-based group 2 Live Crew. Their arrests came three days after a federal judge ruled that the 2 Live Crew's third studio album was obscene, making it illegal to sell the record in South Florida.

Won also served four years in the U.S. Air Force before entering the music industry.

In 2012, he, Uncle Luke and Brother Marquis had a 2 Live Crew reunion.

One of the pioneers of rap music in Miami has passed away. He went on to found his own record label, Chinaman Records.

Fresh Kid also suffered his first stroke on Thanksgiving 2009, which was followed by a second stroke early 2010, and he had to retrain himself to walk and correct his speech.
