Liverpool join chase for Atlético Madrid's Ángel Correa

LIVERPOOL have launched a £25million bid for Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa according to reports in Spain.

Liverpool are reported to have contacted Angel Correa's representatives to offer the Atletico Madrid star a five-year deal at Anfield.

Now, AS have provided an update by claiming that Liverpool are interested but Angel has met with Atletico and he has chose to stay this summer.

Correa made only 12 of his 40 Atletico appearances as a starter last season, and a move to a club where he may spend more time on the bench would not be a smart move.

With Atleti now under a transfer ban - unable to register players until January 1 - the club would not be willing to let Correa go easily without being able to find a replacement for the 22-year-old, who played primarily as a back-up for Diego Simeone last term. And besides, the player met with Atleti's technical staff not so long ago to discuss his future and was told that he will not be allowed to leave and is expected to play an important role for the side this season.

The Argentinean forward, who netted four times in the Copa del Rey, was behind Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres in the pecking order at Vicente Calderon last term.

As per the provided AS link, Atletico have told the player that for now he has to stay.

The good thing for Atletico is that he has agreed with their decision to stay.
