Lucas Leiva is bound for Lazio

Liverpool's Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva has spent a decade with the club.

But when interest waned, it was thought the 30-year-old would stay on Merseyside, with another year left to run on his current contract.

With Lucas Biglia on his way to AC Milan, Lazio moved quickly to identify a replacement for the Argentine and quickly made a move for the Reds midfielder in the last few days.

But with the midfield-trio of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana now regular starters for Klopp, Lucas often found himself deployed as a center-back last season.

Gianluca Di Marzio revealed a deal is done for Lucas to make the move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Lucas has enjoyed an extensive career at Anfield, winning the club's Player of the Year award in 2011 during his ten-year affiliation with the Reds.

In 10 seasons, Lucas has played 247 times for Liverpool in the Premier League, scoring once and contributing 14 assists.

"This club made me better as a person, as a player, I have two kids born in Liverpool".

Interestingly, Leiva now is Liverpool's longest-serving player and has made over 300 appearances for the Merseyside club since joining from Brazilian club Gremio back in 2007.
