The hole that initially swallowed a boat early Friday has since grown to threaten a neighborhood where homes have since started going into the hole.

Pasco Emergency Management, Pasco Fire Rescue, Duke Energy, Pasco Building Inspector and Pasco County PIO are all responding to the scene.

Now evacuating 21855 Ocean Pine Dr going West to 21805 Ocean Pines Dr. 3 homes on Canal Pl are being evacuated as well.

Luckily, the residents had already left to go to work but firefighters did manage to rescued two dogs from inside the home.

"This is something we've never seen before", he said.

"Hole grew fast and swallowed that home pretty quickly", the Pasco PIO said. They estimate the opening to be about 200 feet end to end but there's no way to tell how deep it is.

Power has also been shut off to about 100 homes as a precaution. However, within minutes the entire home, which was located at 21835 Ocean Pines Drive in Lake Padgett Estates, was completely destroyed. All of the asphalt has fallen into the sinkhole, officials said. Nearby roads are closed and homes are being evacuated.
