Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is in the national capital, will meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday.

She also backed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has been bitterly opposed by the Centre because it runs though Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. She added that support of all the political parties and of the entire nation is required to cope up with the situation. The two leaders had a detailed discussion on the volatile situation prevailing in the state, along with the threat posed by militants in the region of South Kashmir.

"While the China interference issue did not figure at the Mehbooba-Rajnath meeting, she may have chosen to air here concerns outside about Beijing's sustained support and involvement with Pakistan despite the latter's role in sponsoring cross-border terrorism and creating unrest in Kashmir", an officer of the Central security establishment told TOI.

Steps taken to ensure the security of Amarnath pilgrims, as well as the recent attack on the pilgrims were discussed in the meeting, they said.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, she said the Amaranth pilgrims were targeted to instigate communal riots in the country.

"We can not fight this war alone".

Seven pilgrims were killed and 19 injured in Anantnag district in a terror attack while returning from the Amarnath cave shrine on Monday.

As many as 21,000 paramilitary personnel in addition to state police forces and two battalions of Army have been deployed for security of the pilgrimage routes, this number is 9,500 more than the personnel deployed past year.

The number of paramilitary personnel deployed this year is 9,500 more than last year.

Kashmir has been witnessing a state of tension and violence. "Their attempt is to spoil the atmosphere in J&K", she said.
