Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil will not leave the club during the summer transfer window.

Ozil has, however, urged Sanchez to stay.

And, perhaps due to a lack of realistic alternatives, the 28-year-old now appears willing to consider extending his contract, which expires at the end of the 2017-18 season.

However, whilst talking at the launch of Arsenal's new third kit in Sydney, Ozil reassured nervous Gunners fans that he hopes to stay at the club.

"Once everyone is back in London, we will sit down and discuss the future".

Arsenal are now in Australia where they play two pre-season friendlies, starting against Sydney FC on Thursday.

"I've been through some difficulty this previous year, but always succeed to bounce back", said the former Montpellier forward.

Recent reports suggest that Sanchez is seeking an offer of £400,000 ($513,960) per week to sign a new deal in north London.

"It would hit the team quite hard if he left, because he's a player who always delivers".

Thanks to a crisis of contract mismanagement, the Arsenal squad is littered with players who have just one more year remaining on their current deals.

"He hates holidays and he hates to calm down so I am really looking forward to playing alongside him in my last season".

"I hope to score goals, this is why the club got me", he said. He is a player above the calibre that a club without Champions League football or consistent title challenges could usually attract or command.

"I'm still an Arsenal player and try to be professional like I always have done and to prepare well for the next season".

City have yet to officially bid either, and if they do it will create a massive dilemma for Wenger: sell now and strengthen a rival, or lose Sanchez for nothing next summer. It is reported that his preferred choice is City, which brings with it the chance to work under Pep Guardiola again, as he did at Barcelona.
