Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Spain under-21 midfielder Dani Ceballos from Real Betis, the European champions have announced.

Real Madrid have announced that Dani Ceballos has moved to the Bernabeu on a long-term contract.

The 20-year-old Spaniard impressed for his country at the Under-21s European Championship, winning Player of the Tournament, and has signed a six-year deal with the La Liga champions.

Ceballos underwent a medical with Real earlier this week and the club have confirmed that he has signed a six-year contract that promises to keep him at the Bernabeu until 2023.

Spanish media reported Real paid 16.5 million euros ($18.8 million) to acquire Ceballos, slightly more than his release clause. He will then travel to the USA on Friday to join up with his new teammates for pre-season training.

The young midfielder, despite his age, has gathered a handful of appearances in the Spanish league, scoring seven times in his career thus far.

Ceballos will be presented to press and fans on 20 July before flying out to the United States to join up with the squad as their preparations for a busy start to the season gathers pace.
