Remains Found In Cold Case Involving Saxonburg Police Chief

Authorities began a dig at the home Thursday hoping to find evidence in their decadeslong quest to find the man wanted

The human remains found buried behind a MA home have been positively identified as a fugitive suspect wanted in connection to the decades-old, unsolved slaying of a Pennsylvania police chief, authorities said today.

Kristen Setera, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Boston division, said authorities were at the home to search for evidence 'as part of our ongoing efforts to locate longtime fugitive Donald Eugene Webb'.

The FBI and state police from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania made the discovery while digging behind the property in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, on Thursday. The feds added Webb died 17 years ago.

Webb is a fugitive from justice and is wanted in connection for the unsolved murder of Saxonburg Police Chief Gregory Adams.

Webb is accused of beating and shooting Chief Adams during a routine traffic stop.

Last month, the Post-Gazette reported that a secret room had been found inside Webb's ex-wife's home.

"She aided and abetted a man that was wanted for murder", Jones said of Lillian Webb "Seriously, bury a body in your back yard?"

The FBI says that solving this case would be a big victory for law enforcement and the victim's family.

The following May, Webb was placed on the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted list.

"What appears to be human remains have been discovered", said District Attorney Thomas Quinn.

"For nearly 37 years, the family of Chief Adams, and the citizens of Saxonburg have been awaiting news of Donald Eugene Webb's whereabouts".

Current Saxonburg Police Chief Joseph Beacham made the 11-hour drive to be in Dartmouth.

At the time, Webb was living in New Bedford with his wife and stepson and had ties to mobsters in Rhode Island, where his vehicle was discovered after the chief's death, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has said. "Our thoughts are with the family and we hope this eases their minds, if even only slightly".
