On Friday, it was revealed that a previously unmentioned translator and Rinat Akhmetshin, a former Soviet intelligence officer - now a Russian-American lobbyist - also attended the June 9, 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr, Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, and a Russian lawyer said to have ties to the Kremlin.

The Russian government has denied any involvement in or knowledge of the June 2016 meeting.

Another key detail has been revealed in regards to Donald Trump Jr.'s controversial meeting with a Russian lawyer previous year.

Trump Jr released a statement in the past week to give an insight of the meeting held with Russian nationals.

He denies current ties to any Russian intelligence agencies, though some USA officials suspect otherwise, NBC said.

Trump Jr. agreed to the meeting because he thought he would be receiving damaging information about Hillary Clinton. He said that "as part of her work, with her clients", Veselnitskaya found that individuals connected to Russian Federation were funding the Democratic National Committee in support of Hillary Clinton, and that she'd "left a document behind" after the meeting.

Mr. Trump, you said that you released the emails because "I wanted to get it all out there" and you accused critics of "trying to drag out the story".

Representatives for Kushner and Manafort declined to comment when reached by NBC News, while a lawyer for Trump Jr. did not respond to "multiple requests", according to the network.

Attorney Alan Futerfas said the man was described as a friend of Emin Agalarov, a Russian pop star who was a client of Rob Goldstone, a music publicist who had arranged the meeting, and possibly of Velenitskaya's, NBC said. The following month, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other USA intelligence agencies began investigating Russian election meddling.

Citing two of its sources, CNN said it was Kushner's attorneys who discovered Trump Jr.'s emails about the meeting with Veselnitskata and they were going to turn that information over to the Senate Intelligence Committee, one of the congressional panels investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

The Magnitsky Act banned officials alleged to be involved in his death from visiting the United States and from using US banks.

In the emails, Trump Jr. was told by an interlocutor that he could get "very high level and sensitive information" that was "part of Russian Federation and its government's support for Mr. Trump". Goldstone had offered "high level and sensitive information" about Clinton provided by the Russian government.

Trump Jr. maintains that Veselnitskaya had no "opposition research" on Clinton and nothing came from the brief meeting.

"I think any witness who's been asked to testify before Congress should testify", Ryan said.
