But by the time her plea reached his plane, Vitantonio had already leapt.

A Skydive DeLand employee told the officer that Capotorto's wife ran in to the business and tried to halt her husband's jump because he had left her a "disturbing" video saying that he was not going to pull the cord of the parachute, officials said.

DeLand Police said Vitantonio jumped and did not pull the cord to open his parachute, according to a revised police report released Friday.

Tara Richards, an employee at Skydive DeLand, told police that Capotorto arrived for the first load of the day and seemed normal, according to a written statement.

Richards told police that Vitantonio had behaved normally before he jumped.

A chaplain was called to the scene to let Litellini know that Vitantonio had died.

Vitantonio was an experienced skydiver who made over 600 jumps. He was 27 and lived in DeLand with his wife. Vitantonio Facebook page was full of photos of himself skydiving with someone else strapped to his back during a tandem dive or accompanied only by a GoPro camera and the curvature of Earth.

Vitanonio, an Italian national, and his wife worked for United Parachute Technologies, a parachute maker, in DeLand.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Skydive DeLand had 10 skydiving fatalities between 2005 and April 2015.

The United States Parachute Association recorded 3.2 million parachute jumps past year, 16 of which were fatal.

The News-Journal reported that this is the fifth death since 2013 at Skydive DeLand, which is "one of the busiest jump spots in the nation".
