Sturgeon meeting EU chief Brexit negotiator Barnier

A joint letter has been written by the chief executive of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and seven other United Kingdom and European pharma and life science industry bodies for the United Kingdom and EU Brexit negotiations teams, underlining the importance of ongoing cooperation on medicines.

"We have to make sure that our economy is strong, that jobs are maintained and to recognize the importance of our trade relationship with Europe", he said, adding "there has to be a lot of changes in Britain, including a fairness of investment across the whole of the U.K. We can no longer go on with these huge areas of regional imbalances across the U.K., these areas of unemployment".

"There is a huge supply chain on both sides of the Channel and therefore a big interest in manufacturing as well as financial services on both sides of the Channel", he noted. Also on Thursday, the United Kingdom government published its position papers on three issues, but not on the most controversial one - the financial settlement. The year 2020 is the end of the EU's current multi-annual budget, to which the United Kingdom has committed to contribute.

"The difference between us and the Conservatives is that we are not threatening Europe, we are trying to work with Europe", he said.

He said that if the United Kingdom leaves Euratom, "there has to be a judicial dispute resolution process of some sort".

Mr Corbyn confirmed his unilateral offer of citizens' rights for European Union nationals living in the United Kingdom after Brexit and said Labour was ready to pay "what we are legally required" as part of the process of withdrawal.

"We want to protect jobs, we want to protect workers' rights and environmental conditions", he said.

She wrote: "Many children I have spoken to over the past year have told me they are very anxious about the uncertainty surrounding their status after Britain leaves the EU".

"Importing groups of workers to underpay and undercut in industries in western Europe is completely wrong", he said.

Labour figures said the key point of difference with the Tories was their ability to convince EU leaders that Britain would not undercut European employment standards, taxation and market regulation once it left - something that may help ease deadlock over other single market rules.

The stumbling block is the EU's demands that the European Court of Justice continues to police the rights of nationals after Brexit.

As the United Kingdom government presented the European Union (withdrawal) bill this week, the opposition leader said that his party would do "everything we can to ensure that parliament has a vote on scrutiny over the details".

In June, the British Prime Minister made "a fair and serious offer" to the EU leaders, proposing that European nationals who lived in the United Kingdom for over five years could stay permanently.

The card was sent following comments in parliament from the Labour leader, who said: "I'm really surprised she [Mrs May] had so much to contribute to the G20 given there was barely a mention of global policy in her party's manifesto, or indeed any policy, so much so that the government is now asking other parties for their policy ideas".

Chief Executive Officer, UK BioIndustry Association, say they are committed to a continued and open dialogue with Barnier and Davis and are ready to contribute their expertise to the negotiations.
