Kasowitz spokesman Mike Sitrick issued a statement in response to the incident: "Mr. Kasowitz, who is tied up with client matters, said he intends to apologize to the writer of the email referenced in today's ProPublica story".

"Marc Kasowitz has not struggled with alcoholism", spokesman Michael Sitrick told ProPublica.

Kasowitz responded to the "Resign Now" email with a series of angry messages between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night.

Kasowitz is well-known in NY business and real estate circles for his rough-and-tumble courtroom demeanor, though he has little criminal defense experience or expertise in navigating politically charged Washington investigations.

According to the article, the man sent Kasowitz an email encouraging him to resign after MSNBC's Rachel Maddow spoke about a story published earlier in the day by ProPublica saying that Kasowitz isn't looking for a security clearance because of a history of alcohol abuse.

Following the publication of the email exchange, Mr Sitrick sent a statement to The Atlantic's Rosie Gray saying that Mr Kasowtiz meant to apologise to the recipient.

Citron pointed in particular to Kasowitz's statements: "I already know where you live" and "you will see me".

And you don't know me, but I know you How dare you send me an email like that I'm on you now.

"You will see me, I promise", Kasowitz wrote.

The lawyer representing Donald Trump in the various investigations into his campaign's ties to Russian Federation recently responded to a critic by telling him to "watch your back, b*****".

"When Kasowitz says things like "I already know where you live" he is inching closer to the line".

But Kasowitz wasn't done. Also, one email Kasowitz sent contained a cell phone number that Kasowitz is known to use.

"You are such a piece of sh-t", he wrote. "Don't be afraid, you piece of s*** Stand up".

Trump's longtime personal lawyer, Kasowitz leads the outside legal team handling the president's response to investigations led by special counsel Robert Mueller and congressional committees looking into Russia's meddling in the election and any potential coordination with Trump associates. Call me.I'm Jewish. I presume you are too.

They allegedly said, "Call me". Or give me your number and I will call you. "You might as well call me.You will see me".

According to ProPublica, the man forwarded the entire conversation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, saying he was disturbed by Kasowitz' replies.
