Trunks gets his own trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ

In the reveal trailer, seen above, Trunks can be seen fighting other popular Dragon Ball Z characters, including Vegeta and Frieza.

During an interview at EVO, Tomoko Hiroki, producer of Dragon Ball FighterZ, mentioned something rather interesting through a translator.

"In terms of the Switch version, we're now working on Xenoverse 2 for the Switch, so we want players to first go there, and then we can talk about FighterZ".

And Psyonix, on their end, has made it clear that activating all-platform crossplay is just a matter of nearly literally flipping the switch as soon as they get the greenlight to do so.

"The DRAGON BALL franchise is tailor suited for the fighting game genre, and DRAGON BALL FighterZ will be the next exciting addition to a long history of great fighting games", said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc upon the game's announcement in June. More details about the game will be shared later this year.

Included in the list is Cell, a major antagonist in the Dragon Ball Z anime that was featured in the Androids arc.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will launch in 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Some fans may take issue with Hiroki's statement regarding a Switch version of Dragon Ball FighterZ, but to be fair, Bandai Namco isn't the only company taking a "wait and see" approach with Nintendo's new console. Featuring 3 vs. 3 battle mechanics, new and seasoned players are sure to experience the epic scope of DRAGON BALL as they select their three-character team to take into battle.
