WRIGHT: Trump, son mired in Russian Federation controversy

Media revelations - triggered by an investigation by The New York Times - that Mr Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump jnr, met with a Russian lawyer said to be associated with the Russian government, in the belief she had information that would damage the presidential tilt of Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton, have reverberated around a world increasingly dismayed by the chaos that has characterised the US President's first months in power.

"Obviously it would be appropriate for anybody to get into anything that went on at that meeting, and he was at that meeting", Grassley told Iowa reporters. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Manafort's private interactions with the committee.

And in a transcript of an off-the-record meeting with reporters, Trump brushed off allegations of collusion with Russian Federation and said, "You know what treason is?"

Levying war against the USA, he argues, "generally requires some use of force in an attempt to overthrow the government", which Trump Jr. obviously did not do. "We want to understand what data was hacked, where it was stored and if it was weaponized at all, whether it was by Russian Federation or the campaign".

President Trump has joined French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris to celebrate Bastille Day. Two weeks later, the State Department that's run by Hillary Clinton signs off, giving Russians 20% of our uranium supply.

"To everyone, in order to be totally transparent, I am releasing the entire email chain of my emails with Rob Goldstone about the meeting on June 9, 2016". He also said that he didn't fault his son for attending. Trump has occasionally conceded that Russian Federation was probably behind the hacking, but he has never really conceded that it was meant to help him specifically.

In yet another tweet storm, President Donald Trump claimed again Wednesday that the investigation into his campaign's possible ties with Russian meddling in the 2016 election is the greatest witch hunt in political history.

Warner said the panel "is just now starting to interview those individuals who are affiliated with the Trump campaign who may or may not have had contacts with Russians".

He added, "You can't pretend-A: that this isn't serious and there is not evidence of collusion". "Which is a very interesting point". If we assume the question wasn't rhetorical, it may have something to do with Trump trying to weaken sanctions, isolate the United States diplomatically, fracture Western alliances, diminish the influence of the State Department (which is now led by Putin's closest American ally), and ignore Russia's attack on the USA elections - all of which serve Moscow's strategic goals. "From day one I wanted a strong military".

Trump, meanwhile, spent nearly the entirety of his campaign saying curiously nice things about Putin, who was then a reviled foreign leader even among Republicans, and pushing the need for a better U.S. -Russia relationship. "Not a government lawyer, but a Russian lawyer", the USA president said in a news conference Thursday in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron. Now, I don't know what's going to happen.

The US President is trying to suggest that there is no reason for Mr Putin to have helped him during the 2016 campaign - the issue at the heart of the Russian lawyer meeting his son Don Jr is now struggling to explain.

Putin hated Clinton. The Russian autocrat, according to intelligence reports that Trump has already been shown, believed Clinton would keep and possibly strengthen economic sanctions, which is one of the reasons the Kremlin was so eager to help support her 2016 rival.

In an explosive interview, Mr Trump Jr admitted he "probably would have done things a little differently".
