Tractor Trailer Accident Covers Interstate In Little Rock With Frozen Pizzas

Highway officials in Arkansas were forced to close the westbound lanes of the cross-country interstate after a lorry carrying DiGiorno and Tombstone frozen pizzas scraped a bridge support and sliced open its trailer yesterday.

Around 1,000 frozen pizzas spilled on to a major U.S. road after a large truck crashed into a bridge.

ARDOT spokesman Danny Straessle said there were no human injuries.

The highway department tweeted that it would "take time" to clear the scene but all lanes were reported open by the agency by 5:30 p.m., more than four hours after the wreck. Trucks equipped with vacuums and mechanical brooms were used to remove large amounts of cheese, pepperoni and sauce from the pavement. No one was injured in the crash, though Straessle noted there were "Lots of pizza fatalities".

The 1 p.m. spill tied up traffic in both directions for miles, reports The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
